I love Christmas holiday times, we have such a good time creating homemade foods. Our healthful hint to you is choose organic ingredients for the added nutrition and safety of no chemicals. It does make a difference in the way your holiday foods taste. Organic sugars do not seem to offer the same awful feeling you get from normal sugars because the minerals present in the sugars are still there. I realize I am letting the cat out of the bag, we are very aware of the healthful benefits of avoiding sugars and carbs altogether but...it is the holiday and we take one. We even take a holiday from good sense and enjoy our family traditional foods and sweets. I use organic sugar, brown, powdered and regular along with organic spelt flour for all the traditional cookies we enjoy and share with friends. Organic eggs, butter and most nuts, vanilla and other natural flavorings are available in our area easily. I use rice syrup (organic of course) in any recipe that calls for corn syrup (yuk). I find organic ingredients to use and if I can't find one thing I substitute an organic something.

I make cookie decoration sugars myself. This year I made a reddy pink sugar using pomegranate juice with sugar and drying it in the oven, must be a very low temp or you will melt it. I then put it in the food processor to break up the stickiness and I have naturally dyed sugar for my traditional spritz cookies. Ta Da. You can have all kinds of creative ideas if you insist on using organic ingredients. When you eat my caramels you are eating organic cream, butter, sugar. I make things made with flour and I make things like truffles and caramels for people who have gluten intolerance so they can enjoy desert with us.

I make a date rice ball rolled in organic coconut that is a traditional recipe but I use all organic ingredients. This is a cookie I do not particularly like but when the ingredients are organic it tastes so much better to me I ate two of them while I was rolling them!! Again a gluten free recipe.

Take a good look at your favorite foods and buy organic every chance you get. We wish you warm and loving hours with your friends and family and we will continue to give you the best health advice we can in the years to come. Much love, Conrad and Coleen

I continue to be reminded how important it is for each of us to take responsibility for what we think about people and issues. So many good things in life are dished by the "popular media" and so many problems and poor choices are pushed. The list grows daily. We will be hearing the merits of national health care over the next two years and people who have no insurance will be featured and hospitals forced to help people with no money and no insurance will be the center of the buzz. This is an idea that has been tried and failed in so many locations. Canada, England the past Soviet Union. Providing something to all with no personal responsibility for contribution has always been a mistake. I want to live in freedom with a society dedicated to free enterprise.

Having been, this late in our lives, the target of false data and vicious lies Conrad and I just shake our heads and become more determined than ever to surround ourselves with helpful, positive people. We need to stick up for one another because if you venture out of your arm chair to do something big in life, with Conrad in mind here, you are going to get it. There are those who cannot stand to see a new way or an improved idea make it. The idea that physicians should supply patients with better answers than drugs and surgery will be fought hard for many years to come; imagine what it might take to encourage the forces of big pharma and big medicine to make room for a few more choices.

We are making very good head way, a cardiologist met with Conrad last week, they have patients in common and they are going to do a paper on the results of a case of a guy who approached heart disease with chelation therapy and won a better future than was possible with standard heart disease care. One day physicians like Conrad all over the US, and the world for that matter, will have won a bigger playing field and the rest of us will have choice in medical care instead of the wretched government handouts and lowest common denominator of care. I am a baby boomer with my eye on the future and I want physicians like Conrad all across the US to be there for my family and friends. Thanks for listening.

By the way I would love comments but it gives the internet crazies a new path to our door. Use our website, drmaulfair.com

Infusion Therapy is not readily available in most medical centers, Dr. Maulfair constantly hears "if only I would have known..." from people who seek our care. The availability of infusion treatments in your area may be scarce but it is worth traveling to avail yourself of treatments that work. Vitamin C, as an example, cannot be tolerated in large doses by mouth but when given as an infusion the body can easily tolerate large doses. Not only needed by people with cancer during any treatment protocol but also as a wellness modality it is just one of many treatments that makes sense because you are giving the body something it likes and needs. Unlike drugs, considered by the body as toxic, nutrient infusion therapies are generally well tolerated and fast is bringing aid where needed. To maintain wellness they are part of comprehensive medical strategy of healthy living.

I have so much satisfaction in working in a medical center that helps people find the treatments that work and do not harm the body as drugs do. Every single drug is a toxin to the body and when needed they are beneficial but they do nothing to help people age gracefully and disease free they only mask a symptom. Symptoms should be used as the sign post to point the way to the proper diagnostics.

Effective medical care is so scarce it is scary. Insurance companies are being robbed by bad advisors that keep the status quo of drugs and surgery as the only things they cover. How stupid. If stockholders of health care insurance giants only knew how much money is wasted they would throw their ill informed advisors out with the bath water. Pharmaceutical companies have these people by the throat and will not let go quietly. The only person who suffers is the consumer of medical care paying premium dollars for end stage help they could avoid.

See you tomorrow... Coleen

We had such a good time with our wellness seminar attendees on Saturday. Dr. Maulfair taught a number of people some osteopathic treatments for lymphatic stimulation to assist them in keeping their family and friends healthy over the winter and during our upcoming holidays. People learned how to help one another with a treatment for sinus problems as well.

Dr. Maulfair has been helping people with heart disease and circulatory problems utilizing chelation therapy and nutrient infusions but he also utilizes osteopathic therapies for general health. The manipulation of tissues of the body is key to a good immune system. He explained why exercise is so beneficial for everyone, not just to keep good muscle tone but also the movement of the body is the primary way the lymphatic fluid is encouraged to circulate throughout the body. He is such a good teacher and imparting the means and the ability to help another person is more important to most people than having help themselves. We are always encouraged by the people we meet who really do care about others and care about wellness.

He is going to offer this seminar again in January so check our website for dates, drmaulfair.com. Osteopathic techniques have been utilized for over 100 years by physicians and are of great help for wellness. Dr. Maulfair's father was also an Osteopathic Physician and did not use drugs in his treatment of health problems, in fact, we learned after his death at the grand age of 93 that he did not have a DEA license. (Drug Enforcement Agency) I remember sitting in restaurants with him and wherever we went patients found him and greeted him with the warmth you save for family. What a guy, and a great healer. Funny, we have lost all sense of expecting healing from big pharma and common medicine. Feeling great as you age is not expected in this day and age. People expect to die of disease not of wearing out at a grand old age.
