What a weekend!!!
Dr. Maulfair and I just returned from the most exciting weekend, we attended the Citizens Commission on Human Rights annual award and anniversary dinner in Los Angeles. At least 1000 people were in attendance including whistle blowers from the psychiatric and pharmaceutical industries.
The opening entertainment with Mark Isham and the Wicked Tinkers was the most fabulous arrangement of "Amazing Grace" I still get goosebumps recalling the impact of that piece. This event is so moving and so meaningful because we gather with all people across this great nation and internationally to celebrate the headway we are making in protecting people from psychiatric abuse and violent reactions to drugs.
Joining us are parents whose children have died due to their drug prescriptions and this year a video was released at this dinner called "Prescription: Suicide?" , the story of six kids and their encounters with antidepressants. You can order this DVD from www.prescriptionsuicide.com and you can contact www.ParticipateNow.net to learn more about this important issue affecting more children every year.
Families need this information especially if you are in a state where the school program of Teen Screen is used to target at risk kids. Teen Screen, a federal program considers normal problems of life medical problems requiring prescription drugs. Talk about the solution being worse than the problem!!! The kids we see in our practice who come with recommendations of drugs are physically ill and need good diets and some are simply very bright creative kids that will not be tamed and put in a box by the public school system.
It was a great inspirational weekend leaving all who attended with a renewed desire to do even more to inform families of problems. Contact cchr.org to get the scoop and do what you can to contribute. We will see you at the dinner next year!! Love Coleen and Conrad
